Conclusions
Being a
teacher is rewarding for me because it has helped me grow as a person. It has
helped me to learn to distinguish the different thoughts and to be able to
discern between the good and the bad, taking advantage of each experience to
improve my work.
I believe
that I have advanced a lot in this pedagogical experience because it makes my
mind look for resources to be able to realize a meaningful class. With these
classes I have improved my listening and speaking, as well as reading and
writing. But for me the most important are listening and speaking because they
have been the most difficult in all my learning a new language. Listening to me
was complicated because I did not understand many words and valuable
information is lost. I have learned to express myself better. With the students
I must be sure of what is being talked about. When a teacher doubts what he is
saying, he loses credibility with his students. The security of speaking is
what attracts students to continue with the learning process.
In teaching
we must be committed to what we do. This vocation should not be taken by
discarding or by obligation because we will not pay to value the work and we
can fall into the error of being mediocre. I am not good at writing. My ideas
are difficult to express but with effort and dedication I have been able to
carry out the meetings. My students expressed their gratitude because my way of
working motivates them to follow their process.
When we
talk about learning a language different from the mother language, it does not
matter if it is English, French, Mandarin, etc. it should not be centred only
on grammar and orthographic rules. These are important but to a certain extent
they are boring if they are used in all classes. In my teaching values, a new
language must begin to be taught by listening and speaking because that is what
children do, then they learn to read and write after.
A class can
be very boring or very interesting because of the way we create it. An
interesting way is to use different topics and ask different questions about
the proposed item. This makes the knowledge of the students put to the test and
they feel the need to find the right vocabulary to answer the different
questions.
My advice
to future teachers of speaking online is to use interesting topics and common
for your students. Grammar is important but it does not give much emphasis to
classes and create an interesting environment for students.
